Collect bug reports a developer can reproduce, with the environment details and step-by-step description that make triage faster.
Ask for the steps that reproduce it
A “What did you do, and what happened instead?” pair of fields is worth more than a free-form description. Prompt for the exact screen, the action taken, and the result. If the reporter cannot describe a repeatable sequence, the report may actually be a feature request.
Capture environment details
Browser, operating system, app version, and account type are the fields triage needs most. Pre-filling them from the page the reporter came from removes effort and error. Ask people not to paste passwords or personal data into a bug report.
Close the loop
Give each report a visible status and tell the reporter what happens next. A short confirmation that the report was received, plus a note when it is fixed, keeps the channel trustworthy so people keep using it instead of reporting problems in chat.
