Job application forms
Screen applicants on evidence rather than keywords, with clear handling of CV files and personal data.
Screen on evidence, not keywords
Ask two or three role-specific questions that require a concrete example, and read those before the CV. Avoid requesting information you will not assess, such as a photo, date of birth, or full address; in many places these add legal risk with no hiring benefit.
Handle files deliberately
If you accept a CV, state the accepted formats and a size limit, and say who will open it. A file upload field should never be the only way to apply, because some applicants cannot use it. Always offer an email alternative.
Close the loop
Tell applicants when they will hear back, and whether you keep their details for future roles. A clear and timely rejection is part of a good candidate experience and reduces the number of follow-up messages you have to answer.
